How it works

From sign-up to your first collection in 1–5 days.*

Step 1

Sign up and get verified

Tell us about your business and upload your documents online. Connect your own card gateway, or let YardPay collect Jam-Dex for you with no merchant account of your own.

Step 2

Set up what people owe

Create a plan (weekly dues, a monthly fee, a repayment schedule) or send a one-off invoice or payment link.

Step 3

Get paid and paid out

Customers pay by card or Jam-Dex QR, and YardPay reminds the ones who haven't. Card payments through your own gateway go straight to you; Jam-Dex collected by YardPay is paid out on the schedule you choose.

*Subject to business verification timelines.

FAQ

Questions merchants ask.

How can my customers pay?

By Visa or Mastercard, or by Jam-Dex, Jamaica's digital dollar issued by the Bank of Jamaica, paid from a phone wallet by scanning a QR code. You choose which options to offer.

Can I use my own card gateway?

Yes. YardPay connects to your Mastercard Gateway (MPGS) account, and card payments go straight to you from your acquirer. First Atlantic Commerce support is coming.

How much does it cost?

With your own card gateway, you pay YardPay a service fee and your acquirer's card fees stay as they are. Jam-Dex collected through YardPay pays a rate per payment, taken before your payout, instead of the per-payment fee. See Pricing above for the current price list. It is billed after each month to the card on file. Failed attempts and retries are never charged.

Do I need a merchant account from a bank?

Not for Jam-Dex. You collect Jam-Dex under YardPay's arrangement and we settle it to you, which is what lets a church, a school PTA or a small lender start without a bank's approval process. If you already take cards through your bank's gateway, you can keep using it.

How and when do I get my money?

Card payments through your own gateway reach you on your acquirer's usual schedule and never pass through YardPay. Jam-Dex collected by YardPay is paid out to your bank, a Jam-Dex wallet or cash pickup at an ATM, on the schedule you choose.

What happens when someone doesn't pay?

They get reminders before the due date and after it passes. If they saved a card, YardPay retries the payment on a schedule. The dashboard shows who is overdue and by how much.

How is my customers' information protected?

Card payments use 3-D Secure, and card details are entered in your gateway's own secure fields, so YardPay never sees card numbers.

How is my YardPay account kept secure?

Sensitive actions, such as changing where payouts go, approving a payout or issuing a refund, need a one-time code, and each one is recorded with who did it and when. You decide which team members can do what.

Can I connect my own system?

Yes. The REST API creates invoices, plans and payment links, and webhooks tell your system when money arrives. A test mode with test cards lets you build before going live.
